Amanotes Careers | [New Games] Game Unit Manager

[New Games] Game Unit Manager

Product / Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

ABOUT THE TEAM

  • The New Games Division exists to create new hit hybrid-casual music games that make interacting with music fun and part of players’ daily lives. It owns the full lifecycle from idea → prototype → soft launch → PMF, before handing over successful titles to LiveOps for long-term operation.
  • This division’s focus is launching new rhythm/hybrid music games with distinct value propositions with AI-empowered squads

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • As Unit Manager – New Games , you are the end-to-end owner of the music game unit: You lead a cross-functional squad (Product Owner, Unity Developer, Artist) to ship new rhythm/hybrid music games from concept to PMF. You are accountable for both product outcomes (soft-launch/ PMF, revenue,...) and people outcomes (team performance, growth, engagement). You turn the company strategy — speed, systemization, AI-powered production — into the day-to-day way of working for the New Games team.
  • This role reports to the Game Director.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • 1. Own Product Vision & Portfolio
  • Define and continuously refine the product vision, positioning, and roadmap for the hybrid-rhythm games portfolio
  • Translate company-level choices “rhythm games core + super fast production + personalization” into concrete game bets and experiments for your unit.
  • Build and maintain a balanced pipeline of concepts (from quick validations to deeper PMF), ensuring the unit can deliver its soft-launch and PMF targets for the year.
  • 2. Drive Game Development & Delivery
  • Lead the squad through the full lifecycle of each game: ideation → prototype → core loop → soft launch → PMF decision → LiveOps.
  • Ensure the team consistently hits divisional targets on time-to-launch and development mandays per first release, by:
  • + Using modular prefab systems, shared features, and templates
  • + Standardizing code structure and workflows with Tech and Game Solutions
  • Own quality and readiness at each decision gate (POC, core loop, soft launch, PMF), ensuring no critical issues at launch and clear kill/continue recommendations.
  • 3. Lead with Data, Experiments & Player Insight
  • Define success metrics per game and per phase (e.g., R1/R3 retention, SumR30, ROAS, LTV, ARPDAU, UV14, time spent) and track them rigorously.
  • Set clear hypotheses and experiment plans for gameplay, difficulty, content, and monetization; partner with DnI and Solution teams to use A/B testing platforms and analytics effectively.
  • Combine quantitative insights (dashboards, experiments) with qualitative feedback (playtests, user interviews, store reviews) to make clear decisions on design and roadmap.
  • 4. Build & Grow a High-Performing Cross-Functional Unit
  • Lead a multi-disciplinary squad with clarity of roles, goals, and performance expectations, aligned to divisional KPIs and company goals.
  • Create a culture of psychological safety, accountability, and learning: celebrate experiments, run retros, and turn failures into shared lessons instead of blame.
  • 5. Systemize & Scale: From One Game to a Production Engine
  • Collaborate with Game Solutions, Music Central, Design CoE, and Tech to:
  • + Adopt and influence modular feature libraries, Level Design systems, and tooling that make squad team faster and more scalable.
  • Standardize event hooks, monetization modules, analytics, and LiveOps readiness so that successful games can be transferred to LiveOps with minimal friction.
  • 6. Partner with LiveOps, Marketing & Licensing for Scale
  • Work closely with LiveOps Unit Managers to define the handover criteria and roadmap for games that reach PMF, ensuring LiveOps teams can operate them at scale (events, monetization, content pipelines).
  • Partner with Marketing on go-to-market strategy: concept testing, creative strategy, UA channels, and scaling plans for each game title.
  • Collaborate with Licensing and Music Central to leverage music as a strategic differentiator in rhythm games.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience in game product management / game design / production, including:
  • + Proven experience shipping and operating mobile F2P or hybrid-casual games
  • + At least 2+ years leading cross-functional teams (formal people management or squad leadership).
  • Strong understanding of:
  • + Hybrid-casual & rhythm games: core loops, engagement drivers, monetization systems, personalization, LiveOps.
  • + Mobile F2P economics and key metrics (e.g., DAU, retention curves, SumR30, ROAS, ARPDAU, LTV, UV14).
  • Demonstrated ability to:
  • + Own product outcomes end-to-end for one or more titles
  • + Make data-informed decisions and design meaningful A/B tests
  • + Balance speed vs. quality in an iterative production environment
  • Strong people leadership skills:
  • + Setting clear expectations, giving feedback, coaching, and handling performance issues
  • + Working effectively with diverse profiles (Tech, Art, Music, Design, Data, Marketing).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in English: able to align stakeholders, present decisions clearly, and write structured product documents and specs.
  • Deep passion for games and curiosity about how players experience music through gameplay.

NICE TO HAVE

  • Direct experience working on rhythm / music games, or products where music is a core part of the value proposition.
  • Experience in:
  • + Hybrid-casual games that mix simple core gameplay with deeper meta systems
  • + Building or operating LiveOps-driven titles (events, passes, time-limited modes).
  • Hands-on familiarity with:
  • + Unity and game production workflows
  • + Analytics & experimentation platforms (A/B testing, dashboards, cohort tools).
  • Experience leveraging AI tools in game production (content generation, level design, art style, analytics) and/or working with modular game systems at scale.
